Bacteriostatic Water

Bacteriostatic water is a sterile aqueous solution containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. This preservative inhibits bacterial growth in an opened vial, making the solution suitable for repeated use when reconstituting or diluting peptide and protein formulations in a laboratory setting.

Unlike regular sterile water (Sterile Water for Injection), bacteriostatic water remains usable for longer after opening — up to approximately 28 days under proper storage conditions — making it the standard solvent for multi-dose research applications.
